DEL SUTTON

I'm not a stranger to the Northland. I graduated from Oak Park High School and began my teaching career in 1973 at New Mark Middle School, where I served as their Vocal Music instructor for an impressive 29 years. My dedication to teaching led me to remain in the same building and classroom throughout that time.

Upon my retirement, I continued to channel my passion for music into meaningful endeavors. In collaboration with my former music teacher, the late Joyce Stuermer, I initiated a choral program within the maximum-security wing of Lansing Prison in Lansing, Kansas, as part of the Arts in Prison program. This experience further deepened my commitment to the transformative power of music.

Singing has always been my love and remains a driving force in my life. Currently, I'm embarking on a second career of sorts, sharing my musical talents with various audiences. I perform regularly for senior living communities, churches, and a diverse array of community events. Over the past four decades, I've written over 400 songs that cover a wide range of themes and genres.

I am actively engaged in live performances, particularly in the Kansas City area, with a focus on the Northland. You can catch me at Westbrook and Oak Pointe in Kearney, Mo., and other community and church events. Additionally, I lend my voice to church events, various clubs, and civic organization luncheons and dinners.

Not limiting myself to live performances, I've also embarked on a new adventure in the world of radio. I've launched my own radio show on the Artist First Radio Network, where I preview my music and discuss my songs, songwriting, and the world of music. The pilot show aired on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, at 8 p.m. EST. You can also listen to a podcast of my recent interview with the radio station at http://media.artistfirst.com/ArtistFirst_Music_Special_2021-07-28_Del_Sutton.mp3. You can also purchase my music on Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music, Pandora, and other music outlets for your listening enjoyment.
